This study aims to explain organizational design which could improve individual motivation in perspective of institutional theory. Individual motivation is one of the most important variables that need to be a priority of the organization. It is not an easy job for the organization because motivation links to individual controlling that comes from external factor of individual.
The study describes motivation theory and explores some reasons that can motivate individual in organization. Based on motivation theories, one factor that lead motivation individual is an extrinsic factor which is working environment. Individuals need working environment that could make them explore their self actualization. However, organizational design can resist individual motivation. Therefore, heterarchy concept is needed to increase individual motivation in organization.
